Who we are

Medallion Psych is the independent practice of Susan Walker-Matthews, PhD. My goal is to help you fully understand your symptoms and their affect on you, to teach you skills to decrease your distress, and to help you prevent recurrence in the future. I will schedule your first appointment quickly, prioritize your time, and work efficiently. You can expect to work hard, but you will have the support you need to help you reach your full potential.

My office is private, professional, and welcoming. I am discretely located with minimal signage, free off-street parking, and my main therapy room has a separate exit to reduce contact between clients in the waiting area. For highly recognizable clientele, I take measures to further ensure discretion based on your unique needs.

I am currently accepting adults and older teens. I treat a variety of symptoms including: anxiety, panic, depression, self-injury, suicidal thoughts, medical illness, behavioral difficulty, transgender issues and transitioning, difficulty with adjustment to life changes, and grief/loss. If I cannot provide the services you need, I will help you find the best possible referral in your area.

What we charge

  • Intake Appointment              –           $220.00
  • Follow-Up Appointment       –          $160.00
  • Insurance

Medallion does not bill insurance directly and I am an “out of  network” provider. When you call for your appointment, we will discuss how you can submit our detailed receipts along with your insurance company’s claim forms for reimbursement.  Medallion does accept UMR/PEIA discounted rates.

Medicare and Medicaid recipients will not be able to submit their receipts for reimbursement because I have chosen to “Opt Out” of Medicare.

  • Why a “Fee for Service” Practice is Better for Everyone

1.  By using the fee for service model, I can see fewer clients.  This means you will be scheduled more quickly, you can return on a schedule that fits your needs, you will be seen on time, and I can respond to phone calls and emergencies promptly.

2.  Therapeutic decisions such as length of time in treatment, frequency of sessions, and the focus of sessions will be decided by you, not your insurance company.

3.  Clients are motivated to come on time, work hard, and finish therapy quickly. My goal is for you to no longer need my services.

4. Because I don’t bill insurance companies, I don’t have to inflate my rates to maximize insurance contracts. You may also choose to not submit your information to your insurance company for reimbursement if you prefer increased privacy.
